Paraglider Pilot Training School
Introduction & Safety Session (2-3 hours)
This lesson will give you the opportunity to ask questions and help you decide if paragliding is for you. Learning to leave the ground under a paraglider, training takes time & commitment, we hope you’ll let us guide you on this exciting journey!
The Intro lesson begins with basic paragliding concepts, safety procedures & more.
- An overview of the key gear and ideal weather conditions for safe paragliding training, covering essentials like a helmet, gloves, paraglider, harness, and other important items.
- Learn how to perform a pre-flight check by reviewing the weather conditions, inspecting your gear, and assessing how you’re feeling.
- How to correctly connect to the harness and organize the paraglider’s lines
- How to pack and care for your paraglider
- Then it’s time to get hands-on! You’ll gear up, inflate your wing, and launch it by running across flat ground with it soaring above you—all while staying firmly on the ground. During the first intro days, we rarely attempt to get airborne. The goal is to give you a feel for controlling your paraglider before you take off for your very first short flight.
One or two mornings on the paraglider training hill (3 hours per day)
- Designed for those with only a few days to help you decide if you want to pursue a Paraglider certification & continue your paraglider training.
- Includes our mandatory Introduction & safety session.
- You’ll start learning how to ground handle and control a paraglider.
- On the second day, if the winds cooperate and you’re ready, you’ll practice launching from a low hill, flying a short, straight distance, and landing.
P1 Beginner USHPA Certification (3-5 days)
The P1 certification program is a brief course that won’t prepare you to fly on your own just yet. You’ll learn to launch from a low hill in ideal conditions, fly a short, straight distance, and land safely. It’s the first step toward becoming a paraglider pilot and is part of the P2 training.
P2 Novice USHPA Paraglider Pilot Certification
During P2 paraglider training classes you’ll learn to solo fly a paraglider & begin the journey of exploring the skies!
You’ll gain confidence in handling a paraglider both in the air and on the ground. The mandatory ground school covers meteorology, risk assessment, and other essential skills.
To get a P2 certification from the United States Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association (USHPA), you’ll need a minimum of 35 flights, 7 days of flying, and 8 hours of ground school.
Depending on the weather, your skills, and your schedule, this course can take 10 to 15 days, with 3-hour morning training sessions along with ground school.
We will teach you at your pace, our goal is to make you a safe, confident, well-trained pilot.
You’ll get a task book and a syllabus outlining the skills you’ll need to learn, which will be signed off as you progress through your training.
Schedule – Most flying lessons take place in the early mornings to enjoy the calm air. Since paragliding depends on the weather, and safety is our top priority, some lessons may be postponed if conditions aren’t ideal.
